Blame It on the Boogie

There’s nothing wrong with a little Miami Dance Magic.

Ever since watching Dirty Dancing, you’ve been dreaming of the day you’d get to gyrate across the dance floor with a Patrick Swayze-esque partner. If only you didn’t have two left feet and an odd fear of sparkly costumes. Luckily for you, there is Miami Dance Magic, a weekend-long dance conference with classes, workshops, competitions, and of course a helluva show. Keep in mind — this group is strictly ballroom, highlighting West Coast swing, the hustle, and salsa.

You’ll be dancing with the stars, such as Benji Schwimmer (a.k.a. winner of So You Think You Can Dance) and many other dancing kings and queens, including world and national champions. The Miami Dance Spectacular Show begins with a triple threat dance-off and later showcases the stellar dancing staff. Intimidated? Don’t be — there will be free morning classes both days and plenty of workshops and open dance space throughout the weekend at the Miami Hyatt Regency . Sorry, baby, only the 9 a.m. sessions are gratis. But don’t sit in the corner; you can register online. And as you’re shaking your shoulders, your ass, and anything else yo mama gave ya, remember you’ve had the time of your life. Call 954-270-0232, or visit www.coastaldanceconnection.com.
