Our fair city will be blessed with an extra dose of estrogen this week, in the form of thousands of lesbians and les-be-friends arriving in town for the legendary Aqua Girl weekend. Theyll be coming by air, by sea, and by highway some rocking boxers, others favoring lipstick, and everyone amped to party all-girl style through May 18. Les girls can choose from the usual SoBe offerings and 14 other Aqua Girl-specific happenings such as a comedy show, jazz brunch, cocktail party, dinners, and more.
Wednesdays kickoff is called Dive-in Movie, a beachfront film night thatll let you scope the crowd under the sexy glow of the moon. The classic Sapphic flick D.E.B.S. starts at 8 at the Surfcomber, but the location of the afterparty is up to you. This yearly event isnt just about the meet-market that will surely ensue; 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Aqua Foundation for Women, an organization whose mission is to promote the equality, strength, health, and visibility of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women. Even heteros can get behind that, as long as you respect the rampant lesbionage swirling around you.
